My Story
At 31, I started a construction specialist contracting business in a room above a shop with two employees.Five years later, the business was growing — but so was the pressure. I was working ridiculous hours, carrying every problem myself, chasing payments, managing staff, dealing with suppliers, and trying to keep everything moving.I cared about my people and wanted to be a good employer, but I didn’t know how to let go. Everything depended on me.Almost as a last resort, I enrolled on a leadership development programme. It was uncomfortable at first — group work, role play, public speaking and self-reflection were not things I naturally enjoyed.But it changed everything.Over time, I learned how to build capable teams, delegate properly, create clarity, and focus on the work only I could do. The business became stronger, people grew, performance improved, and I got my life back.That experience shaped the rest of my career — and it is why I now help other business owners make the same transition.
